Creative Workshop with the Expert in frames of URBACT SPACE4PEOPLE Project took place
The expert Ignas Valentinavičius presented and together with the project participants discussed the proposed specific actions aimed at ensuring the high-quality development of public spaces in Panevėžys and promoting greater mobility of the population.
During the workshop, the participants actively discussed the idea of organizing architecture and public space festivals in Panevėžys, during which a series of open lectures on urban planning would be presented, the community would be introduced to existing and potential community-based initiatives, and so on. It is proposed to create a vehicle-sharing platform in the city, the idea of installing a public bicycle storage facility, as well as the possibility and necessity to stop car traffic on Elektros Street over the weekend, an e-ticket system, a cheaper public transport ticket for students, etc. During the meeting, it was decided to organize other workshops for local activities in January of 2022.
Panevėžys City Municipality implements the project “Space for People” funded by the European Union program URBACT. It aims to increase the attractiveness of public spaces, focusing on three main aspects: pedestrians and their spaces, parking problems, intermodal and public transport.
