Today, the Ambassador of the United States of America H. E. Mr. Robert Gilchrist, diplomats Ms. Nikita Meng, Ms. Tara Gould, Mass Media Attaché Ms. Fatima Quraishi and the staff from the embassy visited Panevėžys.

In welcoming the Ambassador of the USA and the team from the embassy, the Mayor of Panevėžys City Mr. Rytis Račkauskas presented the development vision of the city, discussed economical situation and the perspectives of business development, the impact of Covid-19 pandemics and the Russian war in Ukraine for the city, business community and the citizens.

The mayor was happy that the guest has chosen the most suitable time for the visit - summer, when the city is extremely attractive with greenery and renovated spaces.

“Panevėžys is a compact, green, ecological city, where it is cozy and convenient to live, especially for young families. We are trying to create opportunities for people to return to live in Panevėžys from abroad, from other Lithuanian cities after their studies. City companies are also waiting for the ones coming back to the home town. Therefore, we pay great attention to the renewal of public infrastructure, recreational areas, sports and culture. There is a lot to see and do in Panevėžys," said Rytis Račkauskas, the Mayor of Panevėžys.”

After the visit to the Mayor’s Office the Ambassador of the USA visited Panevėžys Fire Rescue Services and the company cherishing the oldest traditions in Panevėžys – the brewery “Kalnapilis.”

“We are sincerely pleased with the visit of the distinguished guest and the opportunity not only to share the peculiarities of the activities of the "Kalnapilis-Tauras Group", but also to show the modern beer and non-alcoholic beverage production line, to introduce and to speak about the long-cherished Lithuanian beer traditions. As one of the largest companies in the Aukštaitija region, we appreciate the attention shown by the US Ambassador to Lithuania to our city and company, and we hope that such honourable guests will visit Panevėžys more often," emphasized Marijus Valdas Kirstukas, CEO of “Kalnapilis-Tauras Group.”

It was the first official visit of H. E. Mr. Robert Gilchrist to Panevėžys.
