The Participants of the international Project visit Panevėžys

On December 14-15, the international meeting of the project YOUNG DEAL takes place in Panevėžys.
“With the aim to improve the quality of society's life by creating a modern and competitive economy, the European Commission has prepared an ambitious strategy for sustainable economic growth - the Green Deal. Today, we all understand that the success of the Green Deal will be determined by the activity of all EU member societies and their efforts to overcome the challenges posed by climate change. With this project, we are joining a network of cities, the main goal of the project is to involve and encourage young people to actively participate in the creation of a sustainable Europe. We had a great start to the project in Alicante, and today, Panevėžys is the meeting venue of the project partners. It is great to see you all gathered for the second meeting of the project. I wish you productive work and an interesting time in Panevėžys", said Panevėžys Mayor Rytis Račkauskas.
The main goal of the project is to create a network of cities where partners would cooperate, exchange experiences in the fields of climate change and its challenges, promoting citizenship, active youth involvement, intercultural dialogue and environmental awareness. The project aims to increase the involvement of young people in processes related to ecology, it is intended to carry out an analysis of the European Green Deal.
During the event, all partners will share experiences, discuss the topic "Meeting the Challenges of Climate Change - Youth Initiatives and Contributions", discussions and a creative laboratory will be held (led by Kaunas University of Technology associate professor, researcher, Head of the Master's Study Programme dr. Inga Gurauskiene. The participants of the event will visit Heat Supply Company, the Nature School, the Open Youth Centre and the charity organization “Food Bank”.
The project is implemented by 8 partners from Spain, Bulgaria, Portugal, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, Poland and Lithuania.
Panevėžys City Municipality implements the project in accordance with the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme financed by the European Union.
