Ramla |
Ramla was founded in 716. It is a city in central Israel, 20 km from the capital Tel Aviv. It is the administrative centre of the county and has a population of about 70 thousand.
In the VIIIth century Ramlą was founded by Muslims who ruled the country at the time. From the very beginning, the city has become the centre of the region. In 1099, the Crusaders, in 1260 - Mamluks, followed by Ottoman and British conquests, conquered the city.
The city has 44 kindergartens, 19 primary and basic schools, 9 gymnasiums.
Ramla also has an Early Childhood Centre (children ages 0-6). This centre is one of the best in the country working with various urban health clinics and paramedics. It organizes seminars for parents and children, provides psychological assistance.
Medium-sized factories and small businesses characterize Ramla industry.
