Partner Cities

Lünen, Germany 

The city was established in 1341. It covers the area of 60 sq. km. The number of the inhabitants exceeds 90 000. It is the largest city in Unna County. The Partnership Agreement was signed on March 2, 1990.

 

Kalmar, Sweden

The city was founded in the XI th century. The city covers the area of  19,22 sq. m. Approximately 33 000 inhabitants reside here. It is the centre of Kalmar County. The Partnership Agreement was signed on November 20, 1992.

 

Goes, the Netherlands

The city of Goes was established in 1134. Its area  is 102 sq. km. The number of residents makes 32 000. It is the centre of  Zeeland Province. The Partnership Agreement was signed on April 17, 1993.

 

 

Lublin, Poland 

The date of foundation of the city is 1317. Its area  is 147,5 sq. km. More than 350 000 inhabitants live here. Lublin is one of the largest cities in the East of Poland. The Partnership Agreement was signed on September 11, 1999.

 

Kolding, Denmark

Kolding was established in 1231.  Its population is 62 000. The city is famous for the ship-building and metal processing. The Partnership Agreement was signed on August 17, 2000.

 

Mytyshi, Russia

The city was founded in  the XV th century. 156 000 inhabitants live here. The Partnership Agreement came into reality on September 21,  2001.

 

Kaliningrad, Russia

The city was established in 1255. Its population is 420 000. The Partnership Agreement was signed on September 7, 2002.

 

Daugavpils, Latvia

Daugavpils was established in 1275. The populations makes 112 000. Daugavpils is the second largest city in Latvia. It is located in southeastern Latvia on both banks of the Daugava River. The Partnership Agreement was signed on April 6, 2004.

 

 Gabrovo, Bulgaria

The first traces of human presence are discovered in the caves  around Dryanovo Monastery, dated from 40 000 years ago. It is considered to be one of the earliest human habitats on the continent. The population makes 80 000.The festivals of humour and satire take an important place in the cultural, entertaining and economic life of Gabrovo. The natural climax of these festivities is the Carnival.

 

Rakvere, Estonia

The city has more than 770 year history. Its population is about 18 000. The Partnership Agreement was signed on June 15, 2005.

 

  Vinnytsia, Ukraine

Vinnytsia is the city located in the south west of Ukraine, by the River of Southern Bug. It is an administrational centre.

Its population is over 350 000.

There 4 museums, 43 general education and 5 higher education schools.

Light industry, machinery and food industry is developed.

At present, Vinnytsia has 6 partner cities abroad: Kielce (Poland), Peterborough (the United Kingdom), Birmingham (the USA), Iasi (Romania), Ribnica (Moldova) and Bursa (Turkey).

The Partnership Agreement was signed on February 16, 2015.

 

Maramures County, Romania

Maramures County is in the north of Romania close to western Ukraine. The administrational centre of Maramures County is Baja Mare City. It was first mentioned in historical sources in 1328.

The number of inhabitants in the County is 516 562 (2011), in Baje Mare- 123 000(2011).

The Trilateral Agreement with Panevėžys City, Panevėžys District and Maramures County Council was signed on March 12, 2015.

 

     Rustavi, Georgia

 

The City of Rustavi was founded in 1948. It is the third largest city in Georgia with the population of 124 000 of inhabitants (2014).

The city is located in Kvemo Kartli region, 20 km from Tbilisi.

The Partnership Agreement was signed on September 17, 2016.

 


Vitebsk, Byelorussia

 

 

Vitebsk is the fourth largest city in Byelorussia. Over 380 000 of inhabitants reside there. It was established in 974 and since XIVth century, it belonged to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It is the centre of industry, culture and science.

Vitebsk is considered to be the capital of culture of Byelorussia. It is often referred to as the second Paris as a number of famous painters, artists (Marc Chagall, Kazimir Malevich, Ilya Repin) used to live and work there.

The Partnership Agreement signed on June 8, 2018.

 

 

   Toyohashi, Japan

  

Toyohashi is the third largest city in Aichi prefecture. It is located in southeast of Japan.

Number of residents: 375 000. Area: 261, 86 km².

The city was founded in 1879. The city has been severely damaged during the earthquake of 1944 and air attacks in 1945 when 60 % of the city had been destroyed.

Mikawa a seaport is located in Toyohashi and is one of the largest car trading ports of the world.

The city has 52 primary schools, 23 pro-gymnasiums, 11 gymnasiums and 3 centres of special education.

Machinery and agriculture industries are developed.

The Partnership Agreement signed on June 27, 2019.
