A Delegation from Romania is paying a visit to Panevėžys

The Vice President of Maramures County Council Emil Marinescu, the Head of Development and Investment Department Oana Chiorean, the Head of International Relations Department Mihaela Lite together with the representatives of Romanian Embassy in Lithuania -the First Secretary Ana Maria David and the Coordinator of Cultural Projects Lučija Bartkienė- came to get acquainted with Panevėžys municipality, the Thermo Power Plant, the Brewery "Kalnapilis-Tauro" group, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, G. Petkevičaitė -Bitė Library, the Art Gallery, the company "GlassRemio studija".
The Vice President thanked for the invitation and the possibility to present their county in Panevėžys. "I hope it could be a perfect start for our cultural and economical cooperation. Only the distance of 1 400 km separates us. Of cource, a direct connection would be a better opportunity and we have an international airport, in the region there are 4 of them. Maramures County is located in North-West of Romania and is famous for beautiful nature, mountains and a well developed mountain, SPA, rural tourism",- said E. Marinescu.
Baia Mare city is the capital of the county and has 120 thousand of in habitants. There are 4 universities, 5 museums, an Art School, a moden library. The firmer industrial city is located among the beautiful mountain. It has its old history, the tallest wooden churches which are included into the list of UNESCO heritage.
