An Exhibition of Japanese Photographer in the Centre of Panevėžys

                          2024.09.05

The photographs of impressive size – 3.5 meters wide and 5.5 meters high – printed on tents reflect the landscape of the Toyohashi region and moments from cultural life in Japan. The exhibition consists of nine photographs. Some of them depict various festivals, traditional Japanese dance, the famous Mount Fuji or amateur Kabuki art performers.

The lens of the Japanese photographer is often focused on various cultural activities such as music, theater, Japanese dance, traditional stage arts, and folk dance, as well as nature motifs. T. Nimura is recognized as one of the most famous photographers in the Toyohashi region.

The hotel facade, turned into an open-air art gallery by Albinas Vološkevičius from Panevėžys, presents a new exhibition on Oriental culture to mark the 521st anniversary of Panevėžys city. This exhibition is a present from the initiator of art projects to the residents and is a part of the ongoing Panevėžys City Municipality cultural project "Cultural Parallels" – a bridge between Panevėžys and its partner cities, connecting different countries and cultures.

The first exhibition was opened on the same hotel facade seven years ago. Over the years, the wall of Panevėžys hotel has featured impressive reproductions of the works of photographers from Lünen (Germany), Daugavpils (Latvia) as well as photographs of works by sculptors, ceramists, and glass artists from Panevėžys.
