Ramūnas Vyžintas: the Project of Public Lighting has been discussed with GENERAL ELECTRICS

GE expands its activities in European countries by initiating intelligent city lighting modernisation projects.Having successfully functioning divisions in the USA, Latin America, Asia and Europe, GE has recently installed a new lighting system in 17 Hungarian cities. It reduced the costs by half, improved the transmission of light, provided the possibility to manage lighting in accordance to traffic, light and pedestrian flows.
"The City Council has approved the participation in ELENA facility programme. We should look for the most favourable solutions to the city in installing the most modern and quality based technologies. GE is well known in this field. The company can consult, design, propose new lighting technologies and their products. We agreed with GE that its representatives will visit Panevėžys and present the concept of intelligent city. They will also give some advice how to design lighting system in an efficent way,- said the Deputy Director of Administration Ramūnas Vyžintas.
ELENA is a facility of European Commission. It provides subsidies (for documents) for the institutions of public sector wishing to implement energy efficiency projects and the ones connected with renewable resources.
Panevėžys City Municipality has applied ELENA facility and received the subsidy of 200 000 Euros. After the documents are completed, the company of energy efficiency services (ESCO) will be selected.
