                          International Conference of the Union of the Baltic Cities

                          Civil Protection Experts of Panevėžys City Municipality participated in the video conference organised by the Safe Cities Commission of the Union of Baltic Cities. Representatives of Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Poland and Lithuania shared news and tasks done in the fight against COVID-19.

                           

                          It was discussed that the situation in the Baltic Sea region is similar and is constantly improving, employees are gradually returning to their normal work environment, conditions for cultural and sports events are changing and state borders are opening.

                           

                          This is the fourth meeting of the members of the Safe Cities Commission of the Union of the Baltic Cities during the pandemic period. If the situation is favourable, a meeting of civil protection experts is planned for the autumn in Liepaja, Latvia.

                           

                          Currently, the Union of the Baltic Cities unites over 100 cities from 10 Baltic Sea states. The aim of the organization is to contribute to democracy, economy, social affairs, culture and sustainable development in the Baltic Sea region. There are 13 commissions in the Union. They coordinate and implement various projects and organize events.
