Aleksas Varna took part at the VIIIth European Congress of Cities and Regions

The Chairman of European Committee of Regions was Karl-Heinz Lambertz. During the Congress the main attention was devoted to the most important issues of nowadays- future of Europe, UN's Agenda of Sustainable Development 2030, climate change and migration.
The most vital point of the Congress - the adopted declaration on the vision of renewed Europe. European Union works for its citizens and concentrates on: democracy where the leaders of local and regional authorities are the main actors; solidarity and care of every person; proximity in making the policy of EU and taking into consideration local needs. This is the foreseen vision of European Union.
Thematic debates of local and regional leaders have also been organised during the Congress. Experience in attracting investments, promoting inovations and decreasing the indicators of climate change have been touched upon.
