International Project SPACE4PEOPLE is will be finalized soon

During the implementation of the "Space4People" project financed by the European Union program URBACT, an integrated action plan was created, which provides an opportunity to respond to the challenges of urban management and development policy. Taking into account the fact that many people use the services provided by the Panevėžys Public Hospital and the Consultation Polyclinic every day, in order to ensure the smooth access of residents to these institutions, a new bus service on route Nr. 1E "Kniaudiškių st.-Consultation polyclinic" was initiated. In order to find out the opinion of the residents of Panevėžys, how they value this new public transport route, a survey was organized in which 181 respondents gave their answers. 94 percent of those who spoke said that this route is necessary for the residents of Panevėžys. 76 percent stated that this new bus route will encourage residents to choose public transport more often. The residents of Panevėžys who participated in the survey were happy that the new route was very convenient and was welcomed not only by the doctors working in this part of the city, but also by the residents of Panevėžys who use their services. It was proposed to use as many ecological vehicles as possible in the city, to increase the number of new routes, and to draw up a schedule according to which buses traveling on route 1 E would run more often.
Justina Pajus, the ambassador of the "Global Panevėžys" project implemented by the Panevėžys city municipality, who lives in Estonia, was also included in the project activities. She presented various ideas for the implementation of this project. Partner meetings and creative workshops took place in the virtual space, during which the parties participating in the project shared their experiences and presented their completed works in detail. During the meetings, modern urban planning trends were discussed, which define an increasingly popular way of life, where one of the most important criteria is convenience, speed and quick access to the city, using a bicycle or walking.
The URBACT program supports the sustainable integrated development of European cities, allocates funds for the creation of cooperation networks, exchange of experience, plays an important role in strengthening the connections between cities, exchanging good practices and finding innovative solutions.
