"Today is a special day for Panevėžys and Lithuania. The opening of the world-renowned multi-functional artist Stasys Eidrigevičius Art Center in Panevėžys. It  is a cultural event of national importance and significance. I have no doubt that STASYS MUSEUM will become an international phenomenon, clearly marking Panevėžys and Lithuania on the map of the world of culture and art. A new generation museum, a space for contemporary art, cultural dialogue, creative industries and education - such was the ambition and investment of Panevėžys, which today becomes a reality and opens its doors to visitors. We see STASYS MUSEUM as an exhibition space of modern art of national importance, ready and able to carry out international art exchange projects. We hope that the international-level museum, which required many innovative ideas and solutions, will create a new standard in the activities of cultural and art institutions not only in Lithuania, but also in Europe," says Panevėžys City Mayor Rytis Račkauskas.

Honourable representatives of culture, art and business gathered at the museum presentation event held in the evening. In total, about 350 guests participated, of which almost 100 were representatives of Polish culture who came to honour S. Eidrigevichius.

According to Panevėžys City Mayor Rytis Račkauskas, the establishment of the world-class artist S. Eidrigevičius Art Center in Panevėžys is an important step in strengthening the entire region, it creates a new and strong cultural field not only for Panevėžys, but also for art lovers of other cities in the country. "A cultural object of such importance by the European "Via Baltica" highway and the upcoming "Rail Baltica" route should become an important reason not only to pass by, but also to visit our city. The aim of the museum is to become a point of attraction for the local and national community, fans of S. Eidrigevičius's work from all over the world. It is an important and modern place for cultural experiences in the city. I believe this new facility will strengthen our community's identity and pride of our city. STASYS MUSEUM has already become a proof that huge cultural phenomena can be born not necessarily in the capital," said the Mayor.

Already today, one of the largest and most modern museums in the country, the contemporary art center of the artist Stasys Eidrigevičius STASYS MUSEUM, officially opens its doors to the public. The Museum of Contemporary Art exhibits a rich collection of works by the world-renowned artist Stasios Eidrigevičius. The museum's opening exhibition, ICON - O - STASYS, covers more than 1,000 square meters across three museum floors, along with an outdoor installation open to all. The exhibition will stimulate the imagination of visitors with diverse solutions and techniques.

The three-day program of the opening of the museum will be decorated with a video projection about the birth of the museum's fresco, the author of the concept Dalius Abaris, specially directed by Donats Ulvydas for this occasion. Anyone wishing can see the projection on May 31 and June 1, from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Respublikos 40. The impression of the video projection will be enhanced by the sonnets of Bronius Kutavičius dedicated to the works of Stasys Eidrigevičius. The director of the piece is Donatas Ulvydas, the author of the concept is Dalius Abaris. The duration of the piece is 10 minutes, it will be repeated. Spectators are welcome at Respublikos 40 from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. Please note that the broadcast time may be adjusted to weather conditions.
