Project Cooperation Agreement has been signed with the Partners

On September 28 - October 2, the Mayor of Panevėžys City Rytis Račkauskas, the Coordinator of Non-governmental Organisations Goda Voveriūnaitė-Kaminskienė and the Deputy Head of the Communication Department Vilma Kučytė take part in the first meeting of partners of the project "Challenges for Youth: Youth Response to COVID-19 and Green Deal" in the municipality of Alkojas (Spain). The Panevėžys delegation participates in various working sessions and discussions.
"We continue to take a responsible step in the chosen ecological direction. Together with the project partners, we will look for as many different means as possible to involve young people in creating a circular economy and actively contribute to reducing climate changes. I believe that this project will become another solid step by joint efforts to create the principles of responsible consumption, contributing to the promotion of changing public habits and perceptions", said Panevėžys Mayor Rytis Račkauskas.
During the visit, a partnership agreement was signed in Alicante, which aims to create a network of cities participating in the project that will cooperate and exchange experience in the areas of citizenship promotion, active youth involvement, intercultural dialogue, and environmental awareness.
This project, in creating the future of Europe, aims to increase the participation of young people in processes related to ecology, implementing the goals of the European Green Deal and the United Nations sustainable development: to increase the role of European citizens and cities, to increase the awareness of young people about their civic responsibility for the current crisis and their role as initiators of change.
Delegations from Spain, Lithuania, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland and Portugal are participating in the project financed by the EU fund.
The next meeting of project partners is foreseen for December 13–16, 2022 in Panevėžys.
