The Ambassador of Sakartvelo H. E. Ms. Salome Shapakidze and the First Secretary Salome Vekua visited Panevėžys City Municipality today. During the meeting, the City of Panevėžys was presented, the possibilities of cultural cooperation and implementation of other joint projects were discussed.

"I am happy to see you in Panevėžys for the first time. I really hope for further cooperation contacts. Our countries cherish close ties. We cooperate with our partner City of Rustavi in the fields of tourism, culture, and economic relations. We have something to learn from each other and share experiences. The international festival "European Cinema Day and Night" is taking place in Panevėžys all week. I thank you for the film you donated to the people of Panevėžys, for the opportunity to get to know your country and its culture through it. I hope that this will encourage the people of Panevėžys to be even more interested in the culture of your country", said Rytis Račkauskas, the Mayor of Panevėžys.

After the meeting, the guests went to the Cinema Centre "Garsas" where they presented one of the films of the international film festival "European Cinema Day and Night" by Kartvelian Film Director Levan Tutberidze "The Resting Samurai".
