"To this respect Panevėžys is a pioneer city. Even being rather far away from the Baltic Sea, we take responsibility for sustainable development and clean environment (the Baltic Sea) for future generations. Our steps will be directed towards cleaning the River Nevėžis(the latter flows into the Baltic Sea) and  its banks, renovation of water management systems - surface water network and water treatment equipment",- says the Chief Expert of Strategic Planning, Budget and Investments Department Asta Puodžiūnienė.

The events in Stockholm provided the opportunity to discuss future projects with the partners and experts. The representatives from 9 countries 9Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, Russia) were present at the forum. Baltic Sea Action Plan 2030, joining the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan and AGENDA 2030 have been discussed. 

Panevėžys City Blue Strategy was awarded for the innovative measures in protecting the Baltic Sea in Stockholm in 2017.
