                          International Environmental Award to the Narrow Gauge Railway

                          The aim of the contest was to show courage and wish of people and companies in finding new innovative solutions to protect nature, decrease pollution and improve the environment of the Baltic Sea Region.

                          “We presented our activities- safe and ecological tourism. It is educational trips by narrow gauge railway, bicycles and on foot. It was evaluated by the memebers of the Commission and we received a solid award”,- said the Director of Public Institution AUKŠTAITIJA NARROW GAUGE RAILWAY Gintaras Kerbedis.

                          According to the Commission which gave the award trips by train can be compared with such ecological transport means as bicycle or walking on foot. It provides interestin and challenging experience in nature, attracts people of various age, strengthens architectural and cultural heritage. It ensures further development of Baltic Sea Region.

                          The award will be handed over on May 21, during Hanseatic Days in Kaunas.
