The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Lithuania, H. E. Mr. Jack Twiss Quarles van Ufford visited Panevėžys City Municipality. This is the ambassador's first official visit to the capital of Aukštaitija. During the meeting, strategic directions of development, opportunities for business sector cooperation, implemented cultural and educational projects were discussed with the city leaders.

On the 9th December 2019 the third international meeting of the Project “WAVES – Water Activities Valorizing European Socialization" came to its end. WAVES was funded by the Erasmus + Sport programme of the European Commission to the "UISP Comitato territoriale (Unione Italiana Sport Per tutti), an italian sportive association located in Viterbo (Italy). The meeting itself took place in Viterbo and it foresaw the participation of many sportive european associations, namely: “I Hara Tou Paidiou” (Greece), Municipality of Panevezys (Lithuania), “Basiliko Athlitiko Morfotiko Orthodoxo Somateio Bamos” (Cyprus) e “Biedriba Gribu But” (Latvia).

On July 6-14th, for the 55th time, Esperantists of the Baltic States will gather for their traditional annual international days this time in Panevėžys. The grand opening of the event will take place on July 7 at Panevėžys Culture Centre. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Baltic Esperanto Days and 100 years of the Lithuanian Esperanto Union. The event is expected to reach a record number of 400 Esperantists from 35 countries in Europe and around the world.
