Texts will sound, music blues flow, the improvisations of dialect readings will be presented for two dyas. The Gala Evening of Prize Aawards sparkling with contrivance promises surprises.

This year, "Literatūrinė žiema" is one of the projects of the programme "Panevėžys- Lithuanian Culture Capital". This event together with other professional literature festivals of Lithuania is very important. " It is unique because in such a way Lithuanian literature years are closed. There are famous spring, summer, autumn festivals. Our is a winter one",- says the spirit of the project, the organiser of culture events in the library, a literature expert Elvyra Pažemeckaitė.

About 70 masters of a word from the largest Lithuanian cities, writers from other countries (Ana Auzinia, Latvia, Jyrki Kiiskinen, Finland, Pascal Riou, France) will take part in a two day poetry and essay readings, creative improvisations. We will have the possibility to see the winners of Lithuanian National Prize prof. Viktorija Daujotytė, Antanas A. Jonynas, Kornelijus Platelis, Aidas Marčėnas, Kęstutis Navakas, Rolandas Rastauskas, etc.

Among other events of the festival are literature discussion about the responsibility of a creator and a freedom to create, the opening of the art exhibition Rojaus miesto ieškotojai" ("The Searchers of a Paradise City"), the presentation of the newest poetry and prose, the readings of pupils from Aukštaitija region, original and funny dialect readings.

The auction of art works, photographs, manuscripts and trifles, a concert programme will be organised in the evening of December 5.

During the Gala Evening the Prizes of Julijonas Lindė Dobilas, Elena Mezginaitė, Lithuanian Capital of Culture 2014 will be handed over. Together, the original prizes will also be presented: " The Lodge of a Knight of Literature Winter", "Literature Hat of Jonas Mekas", "Literature Fox", "Literature Apple", "Brass Hand- File", etc.
