Juozas Balčikonis Gymnasium takes part in the International Project

Petras Luomanas presented the educational system in the city. Cooperation, sharing of experience with foreign partners,
importance of new technologies in bringing up young generation have been stressed.
Schools from Germany, Lithuania, Turkey and Poland are participating in Erasmus + Strategic Partnership project (KA2) which started in 2016 and lasts for 24 months. The topic of our project is „Keep IT, stay FIT! ICT & Healthy life style in our schools” closely responds to horizontal priority:" Enhancing digital integration in learning, teaching, training and youth work at various levels". The participating schools are focusing on sharing their experiences in ICT at schools and promoting healthy life style among the students and their parents.
The first project meeting took place in Brauweiler, Germany on 6-10 March, 2017. During the visit, the students participated in different workshops such as programming with LEGO – Mindstorms Robots, the Culinary workshop and The Photo and Film workshops. From May 8th to 12th,2017 the second project meeting took place in Piaseczno , Poland. Students participated in the workshop on stop-motion animation. They also learned how to read bar codes of Polish grocery store products by using different apps, as well as participated in biology lesson and in international groups prepared healthy, delicious soups, salads, green cocktails, dumplings and desserts.
The third project meeting was held on 9-13 October, 2017 in Panevėžys Juozas Balčikonis Gymnasium. Our gymnasium hosted 20 students and 7 teachers from Poland, Turkey and Germany. The rainy weather did not spoil the mood, and the project participants, spent a great deal of time together . On the first day, the guests got acquainted with the gymnasium, its history, the activities of the Students' Parliament. The QR-code game allowed to learn more about Panevėžys. Students took part in various project activities:geocaching, creating an e-book, making healthy Lithuanian dessert and attending lessons. Before arriving in Lithuania, the students created a project song and, by voting online, the most beautiful was chosen. The Turkish songwriting team won the contest . All project paticipants learned it and sang it in an international choir. The students travelled to Anykščiai, Vilnius, Kernavė, Trakai, so that our guests can get a better insight in Lithuania's history, what is the country and its people are like. The time spent with guests was special. The students not only learned a lot of new things about healthy lifestyles, they also improved their skills using different apps outside, gained confidence communicating in English, made new friendships. The guest students and teachers were fascinated by strong community spirit in our gymnasium, they enjoyed our town and got a lot of impressions when travelling around Lithuania.
