On October 31st, 2008 the Mayor of Panevėžys signed the Document of Covenant of Mayors. By this the city commits to reduce CO2 emission in the city by 20% by the year of 2020 and to attract the attention to the use of sustainable energy. In achieving this ambitious aim Panevėžys renovates schools, other institutions, the living apartments are also reconstructed, the companies apply new technologies which decrease pollution.
