About 250 sportsmen, the same number of coaches and trainers, assistants from nearly 25 countries will come.   So, this year the city will be the centre of Europe and not only.

" This event is approved the most essential sports events in Lithuania this year. I think that Panevėžys Sports Arena was just built for such events. I can really boast that for already the second year in a row Panevėžys will be rather vivid in Europe. Last year we has a basketball fiesta, this year- a cycling one",- said the Mayor of Panevėžys Vitalijus Satkevičius.

The Mayor of the city expressed the hope that all stars of cycling from London Olympic Games, the most perspective ones will come to Panevėžys.

"No doubt, the face of this championship- our pride and the Olympic hope SIMONA KRUPECKAITĖ, friends of her team representing Lithuania and Panevėžys",- thinks the Mayor Vitalijus Satkevičius.

Though European Cycling Track Championship will take place in autumn, the Municipality of Panevėžys will try that the inhabitants of Panevėžys could feel the spirit of cycling sport the whole year.

"Bicycles will be emphasised in decorating the city, in organising contests, actions and attractions, in taking part in exhibitions and other events.  The Marketing Working Group made the marketing plan of cycling covering many spheres. We shall work together- the specialists of Municipality, Sports Centre and Tourism Information Centre. Educational institutions, Sports Clubs, and most important, cycling enthusiasts will be invited with their ideas and works,- said the Head of Public Relations Department Irma Gritėnienė.

Taking into consideration the experience of the last year the entrances to the city will be decorated with installations of bicycles. Cycling will be reflected in the events of the 509th Birthday of the city.
