The Experience of City Marketing is shared with the Nordic Countries
"At present city marketing and formation of city image plays a great role in competitions among cities. The City Marketing Working Group, existing for 10 years already, decided to use the financial support and to visit the countries which work with city marketing very successfully. Each visit was very busy and gave lots of ideas, examples of success stories, visions for future works",- said the project coordinator, the Head of Public Relations Department Irma Gritėnienė.
City marketing has influence on the quality of a human life, creates more favourable conditions for foreign investments and business development. The City of Kalmar(Sweden), the City of Kolding(Denmark), the City of Turku(Finland) which were visited by the participants of the project have city marketing organisations uniting the experts of municipal development and marketing, tourism information centres, companies dealing with service, accommodation, food sector(especially the ones in the city centre) and business development organisations. They form the face of the city in a sustainable way and help in presenting the city nationally and internationally. They also organise events, publish promotional material about cities by attracting business support.
" To my mind, marketing, the concept of which covers a lot, is the spine of the city. This was obvious in partner cities we visited and we could follow their examples. I am pleased that Marketing Working Group exists in the Municipality of Panevėžys, also a Working Group responsible for City Development till the year of 2020. These two groups try to work with the city strategy and vision independently. We hope that the most advanced ideas will be implemented and the inhabitants of Panevėžys will feel it",- says the Mayor's Advisor Darius Simėnas.
