This year cooperation based on the agreement signed in 2010 was discussed. According to this agreement Lithuanian Basketball Federation commits to organise 24 international competitions of different age groups in Panevėžys in a year. "We are ready to fulfill the commitments of the agreement. It might be that we shall bring more international competitions to the city than it is foreseen",- assured M. Balčiūnas.

The most important tournament foreseen in our city - European Basketball Championship of 16 years old youngsters(U-16) which will take place in July in Lithuania. It might be that the first and the second or even the final group matches will be held in Panevėžys. A more concrete form will be determined after the decision of Latvian Basketball Federation to be partners in organisational matters of this championship.

" We are glad to have signed such long term agreement with Lithuanian Basketball Federation which allows the inhabitants of Panevėžys to see more international matches of high level. The first part of the agreement has been already implemented by Lithuanian Basketball Federation- European Men's Basketball Championship took place in Panevėžys, Lithuanian National Team played in our city,- said the Mayor V. Satkevičius.
