As the organisers of the event say, this year the Electric Marathon is different from previous years as it starts not in Tallinn but in Saint Petersburg. Besides, it takes place in autumn. The race finishes in Monte-Carlo on the opening day of the Peace and Sport International Forum. It will pass Russia, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

The competitors will be met in the northern part of Laisvės Square, in Panevėžys at 12.00 in the afternoon. Here they will have a stop till 15.00 or 16.00 P.M. The Mayor Vitalijus Satkevičius will welcome the guests. At about 15.00 or 16.00 P.M. the participants of the Electric Marathon will leave for Kaunas.

Teams from different countries can take part in electric vehicles marathon. It is planned that maximum 6 electric cars can participate in the whole race. Besides the cars that compete on the whole route, the teams and competitors whose technical possibilities or time schedule are limited for some reason can also take part in every single leg or stage.

There is also a possibility to compete in special categories for electric bikes, hybrid or plug-in vehicles.

There are five categories that people compete in: electrically powered lightweight converted, modified and prototype, series production vehicles, electrically powered lightweight vehicles, retro car made before 1939, electrically powered hybrid vehicles.

The finish of Electric Marathon 2013 and award ceremony on November, 6th will be on the square in front of the Prince's Palace of Monaco.
