Today, the ambassador of the Taiwanese Representation Office in Lithuania H. E. Mr. Eric Huang visited the municipality of Panevėžys.

“I am very happy to see your delegation here. Since you are visiting Panevėžys for the first time, it is great that we have the opportunity to present the capital of Aukštaitija. We see large perspectives in communication and cooperation with a technologically advanced country. Panevėžys and its entire region has chosen the strategic direction of Industry 4.0, so investments from industrialized, technologically advanced Taiwan have great prospects. Many strong business and industrial companies that use modern technologies in their production function in the city. The Panevėžys Chamber of Industry, Trade and Crafts, which unites industry and business, and the Association of Panevėžys Regional Industrialists operate as well. It is possible to establish mutually beneficial contacts with them and further develop cooperation. Of course, we are interested not only in investment and technology issues, but also in cultural exchanges. In the future, we would like to see citizens of Taiwan visiting Panevėžys. I think you will be interested in our culture, traditions, culinary heritage. I have no doubt that Lithuanians themselves would be interested in learning about the history, culture, and customs of your country. The prospects for our cooperation are really broad", said Panevėžys City Mayor Rytis Račkauskas.

During the visit, the Taiwanese ambassador and his delegation came to get to know the city, to discuss the possibilities and priorities of future cooperation between Taiwan and Panevėžys in organizing business, cultural, educational exchanges and possible joint investment projects. During the meeting, the guests were presented with the city's cultural, social and economic situation, as well as the major business companies operating in the city.

After the visit in the Mayor‘s Office, the guests will be visiting the Panevėžys Regional STEAM Centre, the Robotics Centre and the Art Gallery with the Ceramics Pavilion.
