In spring, the Music Theatre established friendship with Vinnytsia, Panevėžys partner city in Ukraine. Thus, today, in order to give meaning to this beautiful friendship, a support concert "Bridges of Music: Lithuania-Ukraine" was held in the theatre.
"On February 24th, in starting the war, Russia hoped to occupy Ukraine, divide the West and quickly escape victorious from the hell it had created. But Russia already lost the war then. The world won, having finally thrown off its rose-coloured spectacles and understood the bloodthirsty plans of Russia. The aim to help and the initiatives that came from it, which united people all over the world, won. Today we see here that fellowship has won. It has become even stronger and more versatile. Today's concert is the result of cooperation between the theatres of two partner cities – Vinnytsia and Panevėžys. Thanks to them, we can not only enjoy a wonderful concert, but also contribute to the complete and indisputable victory of Ukraine on the war front to make us happy faster. Dear, please support the army of fraternal Ukraine. Slava Ukraini!", said Panevėžys Mayor Rytis Račkauskas.
Ukraine was represented by the soloists of the M. K. Sadovski Music and Drama Theatre of Vinnytsia Academic Theatre Volodymyr Kholkin, Svitlana Basovska and Olha Buha. Lithuania part - by the soloists of the Panevėžys Music Theater Ramūnas Urbietis and Laima Česlauskaitė. The theatre choir and brass band "Garsas" appeared on stage, arias, romances, folk and patriotic songs from operas by Ukrainian and Lithuanian composers were played.
"In spring, when the war in Ukraine started, a partnership was established with the theatre of Panevėžys partner city Vinnytsia. The theatre orchestra prepared a program with the "Tenoriada" project uniting the most famous Lithuanian tenors, while colleagues on the stage of the Vinnytsia Theatre have been constructing structures to repel enemy tanks. Then, on the initiative of the performers and the theatre, we allocated all the funds received for the concert tickets to our colleagues in Ukraine", said the Theatre Manager Kotryna Nekrošiūtė.
The funds donated during tday‘s concert will be provided to Ukrainian military forces.
