                          2021.11.23

"I would like to thank the Ambassador and the Embassy for thedevoted attention to Panevėžys. We have been enjoying intensive cooperation between the Municipality of Panevėžys and the Israeli Embassy for many years. I hope that our partnership with the partner City of Ramla (Israel) and with the Embassy of Israel will only continue to strengthen, ”said Rytis Račkauskas, the Mayor of Panevėžys.

After the meeting in the Municipality, the Ambassador met with the Jewish community, visited places related to Jewish history and remembrance - the former the Rabbinate, the Yeshiva High School, the former Jewish Gymnasium, the Javne School and the Remembrance Square.

In 2014, Panevėžys officially established contacts with the City of Ramla in Israel and signed a Letter of Cooperation Intent. It was agreed to develop partnerships in all areas of economic and social life. In October of 2019, after signing a Cooperation Agreement and becoming a partner city, it was decided to strengthen the ties between the two cities in the fields of science, culture, education, sports, economics, public administration and self-government, environment and tourism.
