The Activities of the International Project SPACE4PEOPLE have been Re-started

Panevėžys City Municipality had an on-line meeting of the partners of the project SPACE4PEOPLE. The event was devoted to the most important moments of the two-day international conference to be held at the end of April.
During the meeting, partners from Bielefeld (Germany), Valga (Estonia), Serres (Greece), Turku (Finland), Saint-Germain-en-Laye (France), Arad (Romania), Badalona and Guia de Isora (Spain) also discussed the implemented tasks, shared the common concerns and challenges facing this difficult pandemic period. All partners supported the proposal to create a common project platform, where they could share information with each other about the decisions made regarding public spaces, transport flows, etc. Due to this project, Panevėžys is implementing a small-scale public transport project and since 14 April introduces a new public transport route 1E. This will serve as an option in optimizing traffic jams and parking problems by the Polyclinic.
Recently, a survey on the opinion of the citizens regarding a new public transport route 1E is being implemented on www.panevezys.lt. The Inhabitants are kindly invited to take part in it and express their opinions.
SPACE4PEOPLE project, funded by the European Union's URBACT program, aims to increase the attractiveness of public spaces by focusing on three main aspects: pedestrians and spaces for them, parking problems, intermodal and public transport.
The URBACT program supports the sustainable integrated development of European cities, provides funding for networking, exchanges of experience, plays a key role in strengthening urban links, exchanging good practice and finding innovative solutions.
