On August 18-22, the Mayor of Panevėžys City Municipality Rytis Račkauskas and the Members of the City Council Rima Maselytė, Ramūnas Vyžintas, Laimutis Sėdžius, Rimantas Narkūnas and the Chief Expert of Communication Department Dalia Gurskienė is visiting Gradoli, Italy. The aim of the visit- the project "Cooperation and Integration in Dealing with Negative Propaganda, Youth Integration, Minorities, Migrants and Volunteers".
Panevėžys City Municipality is implementing the project SpaceforPeople funded by the European Union program URBACT, which aims to increase the attractiveness of public spaces by focusing on the main aspects. During the project, a new bus traffic route 1E “Kniaudiškių str. - Consultation Polyclinic" has been introduced.
A workshop for the SpaceforPeople project took place last week to develop an integrated local action plan.
Panevėžys City Council unanimously approved a Resolution on Violation of Human Rights in the Republic of Belarus and the partner city Vitebsk.
Justina Pajus, the Ambassador of the project GLOBAL PANEVĖŽYS implemented by Panevėžys City Municipality, became one of the members of the international project SPACEFORPEOPLE.
On April 20–21, an online meeting of the international project SPACE4PEOPLE took place. Further plans for the implementation of the project were discussed. Each partner country presented the already done works. The meeting was moderated by project coordinator Claus Kollinger from Austria and the expert Ivan Tosics from Hungary.
Panevėžys City Municipality had an on-line meeting of the partners of the project SPACE4PEOPLE. The event was devoted to the most important moments of the two-day international conference to be held at the end of April.
Since 14 April, the launch of a new public transport route 1E (Kniaudiškių St. - Consulting Polyclinic) starts. It is estimated that there will be 16 runs per day.
On 25 March, Panevėžys joins an international campaign to celebrate the Freedom Day of Belarus. This is the historic day marking declaration of Independence of Belarus. On this occasion, the historical white-red-white flag of Belarus was hoisted by the building of Panevėžys City Hall.
Panevėžys City Municipality, together with seven cities from various countries of the Baltic Sea Region, took an initiative a few years ago and joined forces to improve water quality in the Baltic Sea Region. Baltic Sea Accelerator Programme has been developed for this purpose. At the beginning of the programme, meetings were organized, discussions were held on the status of the Baltic Sea environment and sustainable development of the community. Baltic Sea Action Plan was prepared. This year, Panevėžys joins the Baltic Sea Cities Accelerator Club, which unites world experts and municipal employees, who will work together to find innovative solutions that improve the quality of local water, and seek to prevent waste from entering local waters.
