The Representatives of NATO Force Integration Unit Pays a Visit to Panevėžys

In the morning, the members of the delegation visited Panevėžys City Municipality and met the Mayor of Panevėžys City Rytis Mykolas Račkauskas, the Members of the City Council, the staff of Panevėžys Municipality, heads of city's institutions and the representatives of mass media.
"It is a great pleasure that you visited us and will present your specific tasks and activities to the inhabitants of the city, youth and business representatives. I hope that new impressions about Panevėžys will be of interest for you. The establishment of NFIU in Lithuania is a perfect example of solidarity of the alliance with our country. It is one more concrete step in security strengthening. I am glad to see the initiatives of NATO representatives and the wish to cooperate with the public. I am happy with this visit and the attention showed. I wish all of us a very interesting meeting and the representatives of NATO the best impressions in Panevėžys",- said the Mayor R. Račkauskas.
During the meeting with the city community, the presentation about goals and tasks of NFIU in reacting to a changing security situation in Europe, the reasons of the establishment of NFIU in Lithuania and implemented functions has been given.
The delegation of NFIU will also pay a visit to the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts of Panevėžys, Juozas Balčikonis Gymnasium and the Glass Studio. The aim of the visit to Panevėžys is get better acquainted with the system of self-governing of Lithuania, the peculiarities and importance of Panevėžys region connecting Baltic countries with Western Europe.
The Commander Colonel of NFIU in Lithuania Jacob S. Larsen thinks that military staff has to work with the public, business professionals and various organisations in close cooperation. The Commander of NFIU in Lithuania is sure that without the public support , understanding and devotedness, none of the military forces of any state is not strong and able enough to carry out its mission.
