International Event in Panevėžys Focused on Leadership and Sustainable Energy

On 6–9 May 2025, Panevėžys city municipality administration hosted an international event bringing together participants from seven European countries – Romania, Spain, Poland, Italy, Bulgaria, Latvia, and Lithuania. The event was part of the European Union-funded project “Energy Challenge: The Power of W – Sustainable Energy for Developing European Towns,” supported through the CERV programme (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values).

From April 1st to 4th, representatives of Panevėžys City Municipality Administration participated in an international meeting in Bucharest, Romania, organized as part of the project The Power of W – Sustainable Energy for Developing European Towns, co-financed by the European Union under the CERV programme – Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values. The event brought together municipalities and community organizations from across Europe to discuss the integration of sustainable energy approaches and community engagement at the local level.

A unique exhibition "NINGYŌ: the Art and Beauty of Japanese Dolls" has been opened at Panevėžys City Art Gallery. The exhibition, organized by the Japanese Foundation and the Embassy of Japan in Lithuania, presents 67 authentic Japanese dolls, divided into four thematic groups: "Ningyō – Prayers for Children's Growth," "Ningyō as Visual Art," "Ningyō as Folk Art," and "Ningyō and Culture."

Panevėžys is increasingly establishing itself as a hub for innovative architecture and cultural centres – two exceptional city landmarks have gained international recognition. One of the most influential architecture websites in the world, ArchDaily, has included "Stasys Museum" art centre and "Pragiedruliai" creativity centre in the prestigious list of nominees for the "Building of the Year" awards. This competition features over 4,000 of the best architectural projects from around the world every year, and simply being nominated is considered a significant honour.

Skaistakalnis Park will come to life in a New Way: an Interactive Route will invite Visitors to Explore History

Cultural institutions of Panevėžys City Municipality constantly try to engage visitors with interactive and creative activities that encourage active participation and a deeper interest in arts and culture. Educational programs, interactive exhibitions, artistic events, and creative workshops are just some of the activities where visitors can not only observe but also become part of a unique cultural process. One of such initiatives is the project "Returned History," implemented by the "Stasys Museum" in partnership with the Zemgale Regional Development Department, as well as the municipalities of Bauska, Jēkabpils, Aizkraukle, Jelgava, Rokiškis and Akmenė districts.

The Collection of Kazys Naruševičius has been handed over to Panevėžys Local Lore Museum

The Mayor of Panevėžys City Rytis Račkauskas met with Ernestas Grabažis, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the Swiss Confederation. During the meeting they discussed opportunities for cooperation, twin cities and cultural exchange issues. E. Grabažis ceremoniously handed over a collection of 22 works of the artist, educator and honorary citizen of Panevėžys Kazys Naruševičius (1920–2004). The collection had been brought from Switzerland to Panevėžys Local Lore Museum.

The Meeting of the Participants of International Project takes place in Panevėžys

Panevėžys City Municipality, together with partners from Italy (Gradoli) and the Czech Republic (Jevišovice), is successfully implementing the international project “Inspiring Gender Equality in the Preservation of Cultural Values and Heritage.” The goal of this project is to promote gender equality, increase women’s involvement in decision-making in the cultural sector, preserve cultural heritage, encourage cooperation and the exchange of best practices between countries. Today, a meeting and conference of the international project partners took place at PRAGIEDRULIAI Creativity Centre.
