In Laisvės Square – a new open-air exhibition. An improvised art gallery on a multi-story building presents the works of the photographer Takeshi Nimura from Toyohashi, a partner city of Panevėžys in Japan.
Today, 100 children start the school year at the International School of Ukraine opened in Panevėžys. In the new educational institution, students will be trained according to the Ukrainian education programme, which will ensure that Ukrainian children who have been distracted by the war can successfully continue their education in general education or higher schools after returning to their country.
On the initiative of Panevėžys City Municipality, 30 children from Ukraine came to Panevėžys to participate in a two-week summer camp. Children, whose relatives died or are currently fighting for the freedom of Ukraine and the entire democratic world, were invited from the twin city of Vinnytsia, as well as from Irpin.
The first meeting of the participants of the "Bauhaus - Greener Europe" project from Lithuania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Ireland, Norway and Italy is taking place at PRAGIEDRULIAI creativity centre. The leading partner of the project, the Lithuanian Innovation Center, which is participating in the event, today presents the progress of the project. The representatives of the Ministry of the Environment of the Republic of Lithuania introduces the European Bauhaus methodology, the representatives of the Municipality of Panevėžys - the implemented projects, etc.
Today, the Ambassador of Israel H. E. Ms. Hadas Wittenberg Silverstein visited the Municipality of Panevėžys City. During the meeting the guest has been presented with economic, cultural, sports, social situation and investment projects.
On Thursday afternoon, a press conference was held at the STASYS MUSEUM, where the media representatives from Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Estonia were presented with the museum and its activities. The mayor of Panevėžys City Rytis Račkauskas, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania Simonas Kairys, the artist Stasys Eidrigevičius, the architect Aurimas Syrusas, the museum Director Vaida Andrijauskaitė discussed the importance of the museum for the city. Art, architectural solutions, the museum's ambitions, the opening exhibition, art generations have been analysed with more than 30 media representatives,the museum Curator Lina Albrikienė and co-Curator of the opening exhibition Ignacy Eidrigevičius.
Today, Ambassadors from Ireland, Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, India, Spain, Italy, Israel, the United Kingdom, Canada, Kazakhstan, Croatia, Latvia, Poland, the Netherlands, Romania, Georgia, Finland, Turkey, Hungary and the representative of the Holy See are visiting Panevėžys. In total, about 40 high-ranking officials have arrived in the city.
The City of Panevėžys has set the ambition to establish a professional, contemporary art space and this ambition is becoming a reality. Next Friday, on May 31st, the doors of the S. Eidrigevičius Arts Centre, a multifunctional space created by the world-renowned artist Stasys Eidrigevičius, will open.
Almost two hundred senior citizens will be able to participate in the international project HEALTHY AND ACTIVE AGING implemented by Panevėžys City Municipality. Together with the Lead Partner – ZEMGALE PLANNING REGION (LATVIA), the project partners- the Education Centre of the Rokiškis District Municipality, the Municipalities of Bauska and Jelgava cities (Latvia), the project aims to create favourable conditions for senior residents to exercise and implement physical activities in the city's public space.
Panevėžys Municipality is participating as a partner in an international project, "Energy Challenge: The Power of 'W' – Sustainable Energy for Developing European Towns" (hereafter, the Project), under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme of the European Union. This initiative aligns with the third priority of the program, which aims to bring citizens together to discuss local actions on climate and environmental issues. It focuses on energy-related challenges, solidarity, and sharing best practices to enhance citizens' participation in societal and democratic life within the European Union.
